What can fluoride do for me?
Fluoride is not just for children. Teeth and their enamel structure are constantly battling the chemistry of your mouth and tooth decay. The acid pH of saliva or the plaque left by microbes in your mouth can be very damaging to the enamel (causing cavities). This damage to enamel is reversible. Constantly exposing your teeth to fluoride (drinking tap water, brushing with fluoride toothpaste and rinsing with fluoride mouthwash) as well as brushing and flossing, allows the damaged tooth structure to be re-enforced before dental decay reaches the second tooth layer (requiring a filling). Fluoride can also help teeth that are sensitive to cold temperatures. Every little bit helps. Ask your dentist about fluoride at your next recall visit. Your teeth are never too old to have fluoride.
