I have dentures now. Do I still need to see my dentist?
Absolutely! You need to see your dentist on a regular basis as if you did have teeth. The dentures need to be checked for wear and fit. Bone remodels or changes as we get older and changes how the denture fits. Mouth tissue also needs to be checked for any unusual lesions that develop with mouth cancer. The actual denture teeth can wear flat changing the position of lower jaw and jaw joint making it more difficult to chew food properly. Poorly chewed food can affect your digestion and overall health. Dentures are not forever and need to be replaced as dictated by how the denture fit changes and/or denture teeth wear.
