What should I do if a sore in my mouth doesn’t go away?

There are different kinds of mouth sores as well as different things that can cause these sores. Poor fitting dentures, braces, hot/spicy food and sharp edges of broken teeth cause the most common mouth lesions. They can be painful, but usually heal quickly on their own. Bacteria, fungal and viral infections can cause a more persistent mouth sore. Any sore that lasts more than two weeks should be checked by your dental care provider.
